SAP B1 - Business One ERP Software System

SAP B1 or SAP Business One software system differs from other SAP products, as it is especially designed for the small and medium sized business organizations (SMB's). The main advantage of this software lies in its low cost and the least time taken for the installation. SAP B1 comprises of the basic modules, and the implementation can be easily achieved, if the business process of an organization matches with the SAP B1 architecture. It may require more time for implementation, due to lots of alterations in the organization.
The Customer Relationship Management (CRM) module is in built in the SAP B1 and does not exist as a separate module as in other ERP products. This software requires Microsoft Outlook to provide the automated marketing feature. Reports are generated with the help of Vision, third party software.
The Financial Management module of SAP B1 is designed to suit other project based companies. It enables unlimited allocation of budgets and generates flexible reports.
This software may cause some problem in the manufacturing module because the features deal only with the MRP. In order to access more benefits from SAP B1, various other manufacturing organizations integrate this software with N'ware. But, this software lacks in providing the time period view of the stocks.
The purchasing module of SAP B1 manages the business operations regarding purchase order, managing the contracts to vendors, keeping track of the stocks, returned products and payments of customers. This module also helps users in calculating the price of the imported materials.
For designing reports, SAP B1 uses third party service from Vision software and the Crystal Reports. They help in generating reports related to every business operations including sales and book keeping. The user interface of SAP B1 makes it user friendly, which includes tools with drag and drop features. This software system allows customization, with provision for adding extra fields and tables.
SAP B1 ERP can be easily integrated with other SAP applications, and provides easy up gradation of the software as and when required. This ERP can be run on Microsoft Operating Systems and supports the databases of Microsoft SQL Server and IBM DB2. The price of the software is affordable, especially for the small and medium business organizations. Though the initial cost of installation appears to be low, it may prove to be expensive in the future.

Reduce data prep time with pointand-click data manipulation

Reduce data prep time with pointand-click data manipulation Business analysts typically have to “prepare” data before they even start an analysis or discovery process, consuming precious time and resources. You may want to eliminate a column you don’t need, add a new one that includes a formula, or aggregate data under two categories. For example, to view sales for convenience stores and independent grocery stores, data may be aggregated and renamed as a “small stores” group.

SAP Lumira provides transformation tools to facilitate these mundane – but important – tasks. Using this innovative software, you can prepare data by:
 • Enriching it with geographic and time hierarchies
 • Automatically creating useful measures based on existing data
 • Formatting and cleaning existing data (for example, duplicating, grouping, and trimming)
 • Merging data sets based on a common attribute or key
 • Adding sophisticated formulas without any coding

You can perform all of these transformations without having to write any scripts or code. And best of all, if the data is refreshed, your transformations are automatically applied to the new data.

Quickly create engaging visualizations

Once you’ve prepared your data, the next step is to use visualizations to convey key insights about your business, customers, and operations. Often, the most important insights can’t be gleaned from quantitative information, such as rows of numbers. You need powerful, interactive visualizations of data to truly see what’s most important.

SAP Lumira lets you build visualizations with an engaging drag-and-drop interface. The result? Beautiful graphics and visualizations rendered in real time that support and enhance your iterative thought processes. Whether you create simple bar charts, display bubble charts on maps, or showcase a multidimensional chart, SAP Lumira gives you beautiful analytics to convey and share insights with minimal time and effort.

You can:
• Surface patterns and relationships by selecting chart types suited for your analysis (for example, bar, radar, surface, tag cloud, bubble, and scatter charts)
• Identify trends with line and multiline charts
• Show the percentage of parts to a whole with pie charts and tree maps
• See the big picture at a glance and drill down into the details using filtering data in columns, facets, and charts
• Show data with geolocation context using country charts and geographic bubble charts

Reduce dependence on IT For businesspeople, one of the biggest barriers to faster insight can be waiting for IT to create a predefined query or report each time a new question arises. With SAP Lumira, your IT department can enable better use of corporate data and analytics without adding to its workload. Equally important, IT can avoid having to create additional, siloed infrastructures across your organization to support increased demand for data-driven visualizations, as the software can connect to your SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence (BI) platform or SAP Crystal Server software.

With SAP Lumira, your IT department can:
 • Deliver insight using a self-service approach, as there is no need for IT to create predefined or custom queries and reports
• Provide data discovery functions that are connected to the enterprise (for example, to existing data, metadata, and personal sources)
 • Focus on its core mission of delivering information to the business in a timely manner while maintaining good governance that’s based on one IT-sanctioned security model and one BI platform.

Improve time to insight and business agility SAP Lumira software provides one of the fastest, most engaging ways to get answers from your data – both large and small. Empowering you to pull data directly from enterprise and personal data sources and bring it together in a repeatable way without IT assistance, the software redefines the notion of self-service information.

Armed with point-and-click data manipulation, you can quickly organize and consolidate data however you want it – without writing a single line of code or creating an additional modeling layer. You can also enhance your data using semantic enrichment (such as geolocation and time dimensions). Plus, you can automate transformation workflows in a repeatable, self-service way without IT assistance.

Using an engaging interface and beautiful visualizations, you can analyze data quickly and discover unique insights to share for rapid time to insight and business agility. And because the software can connect to the SAP HANA platform, you can instantly find answers – even when they are buried in massive volumes of data.

Which SAP System's Integrator Best Delivers on Clients' Cost Reduction Goals?

A major research study on the SAP systems integration marketplace was recently completed by Performance Monitor, an independent market research consulting firm. One of the objectives of this research was to measure the effectiveness of the leading SAP system integrators at helping their clients attain the specific goals of their project. There are ten goals included within the scope of this research:
  • Increase revenue
  • Consolidate or replace IT systems
  • Implement scalable, adaptable systems
  • Improve business process
  • Meet regulatory requirements
  • Streamline financial management
  • Reduce IT costs
  • Reduce other business costs
  • Reduce production costs
  • Reduce supplier costs
Clients provided an assessment of their provider's performance with respect to the specific goals of their project. Clients rated provider performance using the following scale...
  • Falling far short of expectations
  • Falling just short of expectations
  • Meeting expectations
  • Slightly exceeding expectations
  • Far exceeding expectations
The chart below shows the results across 301 SAP projects completed during 2006. Attaining the cost reduction goals is a challenge, as these four goals are also among the more difficult goals to achieve. The research reveals that each of the leading SAP systems integrators has their own respective strengths and weaknesses in terms of overall delivery, and this holds true for the cost reduction goals, as well.
The balance of this article will focus on the SAP systems integrators with the highest level of meeting or exceeding client expectations on the four cost reduction goals studied. These results are based on 301 SAP systems integration projects completed during 2006.

Reduce IT Costs
Of all the goals studied, clients report that reducing IT costs was the most difficult goal to attain. SAP Consulting and IBM are the two firms with the highest level of client goal attainment for reducing IT costs.

Reduce Supplier Costs
Of the four cost reduction goals, six of the seven providers received very similar client ratings. One provider, however, stood out with the strongest performance for reducing supplier costs - Deloitte. Accenture and BearingPoint tied for the second highest level of goal attainment.

Reduce Production Costs
Of all the goals studied, clients report the widest range of experiences in terms of goal attainment for reducing production costs. There is a 22% difference in goal attainment between the providers with the highest and lowest levels of goal attainment. Deloitte and IBM clients report the highest levels of goal attainment for reducing production costs.

Reduce Other Business Costs
Only two SAP systems integrators receive above average ratings for meeting or exceeding client expectations with respect to reducing other business costs - BearingPoint and Deloitte.
Achieving cost reductions for SAP systems integration projects is difficult, but attainable. Clients should be sure to identify the key areas where cost savings are targeted, measure performance prior to starting their SAP project, and then build appropriate measurement systems into the project plan.
